Choose the train by your Osaka arrival station
From Kansai Airport, take Nankai to Namba or JR to Tennoji, Osaka Station and Shin-Osaka. Nankai Rapi:t gives you a reserved seat; the Nankai Airport Express avoids the limited-express supplement. JR Haruka serves Tennoji, Osaka, Shin-Osaka and Kyoto, while the Kansai-Airport Rapid is a useful ordinary-train alternative for Tennoji and Osaka Station.
Osaka Station, Shin-Osaka and Namba are different destinations. An airport ticket to one is not a door-to-door transfer to every Osaka hotel. Compare the train plus your final walk or subway ride.

| Your decision | Useful destination | Train time, not door-to-door | Ticket distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nankai Rapi:t | Nankai Namba | As little as 34 minutes; stopping pattern matters | Basic fare plus a limited-express ticket; all seats reserved. |
| Nankai Airport Express | Nankai Namba | About 45 minutes in Nankai’s guidance | Normal train ticket; no Rapi:t supplement. |
| JR Kansai-Airport Rapid | Tennoji or Osaka Station | About 45 minutes to Tennoji; 65 to Osaka in airport guidance | Ordinary train fare; not a reserved-seat airport express. |
| JR Haruka | Tennoji, Osaka Station or Shin-Osaka | Airport guidance gives about 30 minutes to Tennoji and 50 to Shin-Osaka | Basic fare and limited-express charge, or a valid inclusive ticket/pass. |
Find the station from your terminal
Kansai-airport Station connects to the second floor of Terminal 1 and Aeroplaza. From Terminal 1, follow the railway signs to the connecting bridge. From Terminal 2, take the free shuttle to Aeroplaza and continue to the station. The airport quotes 7–9 minutes for the shuttle ride; allow for waiting and walking as well.
JR and Nankai share the station area but have separate gates and tickets. JR-West’s station guide marks JR in blue and Nankai in red. Buy for the operator and destination you intend to use before entering the gates.
Kansai Airport: trains and terminal accessFor Namba: Airport Express or Rapi:t?
Take the Airport Express if a normal commuter train is acceptable and you do not need a reserved seat. Choose Rapi:t if sitting together and having dedicated luggage space matter. Rapi:t requires a limited-express ticket in addition to the normal fare; an ordinary IC-card tap alone does not cover that extra ticket.
Both arrive at Nankai Namba. A hotel beside JR Namba or Osaka-Namba may need a further walk. Do not buy a route simply because every station name contains Namba.
Nankai: services and current timetablesFor Tennoji, Umeda or Shin-Osaka: compare JR services
The Kansai-Airport Rapid reaches Tennoji and Osaka Station without a limited-express charge. Haruka also serves Osaka Station and continues to Shin-Osaka and Kyoto. For a reserved seat, obtain the appropriate reservation before boarding rather than assuming a rail pass or basic ticket assigns one.
If your hotel is in Umeda, Osaka Station is the relevant JR arrival, not Shin-Osaka. If you need the Shinkansen, choose Shin-Osaka. The time saved on the airport train can disappear if you get off in the wrong district.
JR-West: airport boarding and ticketsHaruka discount prices change on 1 November 2026
JR-West lists the adult Haruka One-way Ticket to Tennoji at ¥1,300 for sales through 31 October 2026 and ¥1,600 from 1 November. For Osaka or Shin-Osaka, the listed adult price changes from ¥1,800 to ¥1,900. The sales date determines the price, not the exchange or travel date.
These are a specific visitor discount, not unrestricted walk-up fares: the product requires a foreign passport and Temporary Visitor status, with passport presentation at collection. Follow the linked official purchase and collection conditions. Osaka Metro or Nankai travel is not included merely because the destination is in Osaka.

The train timings above start at the station. Add immigration, baggage collection, customs, the terminal transfer and ticket collection. With a reserved train, check the change conditions before choosing a departure close to your scheduled landing.
For a late arrival, use the operator’s timetable for your actual date and direction; do not assume the fastest train is also the last one. If your journey continues by subway, confirm that connection as well. Airport trains are not an overnight service.
Nankai: departure times by direction and dayChoose the hotel area before choosing the ticket
Namba favours Minami evenings and Nankai arrivals. Umeda favours many regional departures; Tennoji has useful southern-city and airport links. Pick the actual address before paying for a train to a different hub.
Where to stay in OsakaGoing straight to Kyoto instead?
Haruka continues directly to Kyoto Station. There is no need to get off in Osaka simply because Kansai Airport serves the Osaka region.
